Almost all quinces produce fruit of some sort. Many of them are hard and bland. We were fortunate to grow this strain which came originally from an Iowa nurseryman whose main interest was ornamental plants. The fruits of Lemony taste a lot like a lemon. Even the shape suggests a lemon. Although very tart the flavor is almost identical to lemon but the fruit is not juicy. Can be stewed or used fresh for flavoring. It ripens completely here in southern Michigan. The plants themselves are loaded with pink and orange blossoms in early May. After 25 years they stand only 2-3 ft. tall with equal width. Self fertile.
