"Taco" Bebbs OakQuercus x bebbiana IL
Large Acorns-Fast Growth
Acorns collected from the second generation of this famous oak in Springfield, IL discovered by Guy Sternberg. Parent tree was found in a parking lot next to a fast food restaurant near the dumpster area. This is the fastest growing of the bebbs oaks that we have. Trees tend to be more pyramid than the other bebbs oaks with an open crown. In two years, trees can reach 2 to 4 ft. high in poor soil. Our seed trees have outgrown nearby persimmons and they had an 8 year jump. Acorns are twice the size of our other bebbs oaks. Yields are medium to high.
